Noor; , Mosab Nouraldein Mohammed Hamad; , Sarra Osman Bushara; , Amel Abdalrhim Sulaiman3; Mohamed Adil Yassen Ali4; , Remaz Khalid Hassan Ahmed4; , Almotasim Mohamed Aabdelmgid Elnaema; Samaher Mozamil Mohamed AbdelrahimAgranulocytosis is an infrequent and serious side effect of antithyroid drugs characterized by a noticeable reduction in granulocyte and neutrophil count, it usually occurs within the first 2-3 months of treatment. There is a variety of mechanisms by which ATD can induce agranulocytosis, direct drug effects, and immunological mechanisms. We present 33 years old female attended Atbara teaching hospital who has developed agranulocytosis 2 weeks after starting ATD to treat relapsed Graves’ disease. What was unusual about this patient is that symptoms have occurred in a period less than 15 days of starting treatment and with a dose of 45 mg/day. The physician must educate the patient about the possibility of early onset of serious side effects of ATD and to seek medical advice as soon as possibleItem Alteration of Coagulation Parameters in Plasmodium Falciparum Malaria Patients and its Correlation with Degree of Parasitaemia in Khartoum state Sudan; 2019(جامعة الشيخ عبدالله البدري, 2019-12-30) Rawan Abdullah Ibrahim Abdullah; , Mosab Nouraldein Mohammed Hamad; , Sahar Eldirderi Gafar Osman; Tamer Imad AldeenTaha Mahmoud; Ehab Mohammed Elmadenah Mohammed AhmedBackground: The hemostatic alterations play an important role in malaria pathogenesis and in the progression of disease. In severe infection the accelerated coagulation cascade activity with accelerated fibrinogen turnover increase the bleeding tendency and may lead to DIC. Objectives: This study was aimed to determine the Alteration of coagulation parameters in Plasmodium Falciparum malaria Patients and its correlation with degree of parasitemia in Khartoum state. Sudan; 2019. Material and method: Analytical cross sectional study, 170 blood samples were enrolled in this study.85 samples of blood were collected from patients with falciparum malaria and 85 samples were collected from healthy individual as control, then PT and APTT will be measured by coagulometer. Result: The mean of PT was significantly high in case than in control (14.201second vs 13.668 second, (P value (< 0.01)).While there was no differences in the mean of APTT between case and control (33.075 vs 33.192 second ) P value (0.735). Conclusions: Our study concluded that the mean of PT was significantly higher in case than control, While there was no differences in the mean of APTT between case and control, and There was no differences between the PT and APTT of case and control according to gender. And there is no correlation between degree of parasitemia in PT, APTT and age.Item Evaluation of Ocimum bascilicum Oil and Diethyltoluamide Cream as Repellent Against Female Anopheles Mosquitoes in Sinnar State of Sudan (2022)(جامعة الشيخ عبدالله البدري, 2022-01-01) Shadia Ahmed M. Ibrahim; , Gawaher Gabl A. Ishag; , Mohamed Awn Elsharif Gasim; Halima Abd Elgader Alha; , Hafiz Hassan Shebeir Ahmed; , Yagoob Garedaghi; , Mosab Nouraldein Mohammed HamadAbstract Introduction: Female Anopheles mosquitoes are the exclusive vectors of malaria parasites in Sudan, along with several metazoan parasites such as filarial worms and viruses. The sense of smell is one of the most important senses that mosquitoes use for long- range host-seeking. Carbon dioxide from the breath of humans and animals is a strong attractant of female mosquitoes. Methods: This correlational study was performed in Al-Qaddal Center for Malaria Research in Sinnar State, Sudan. In this study, individual volunteers were topically applied Ocimum bascilicum oil to test its repellency activity. O. bascilicum oil was tested at four different concentrations (30%, 50%, 70%, and 100% v/v), respectively. Results: Based on the obtained results, the oil exhibited the highest repellency activity at 100% concentration, and the average repellency rate was 100%. However, the lowest repellency activity was at 30% concentration, and the average repellency rate was 45%. Diethyltoluamide 13% (Soffell cream) was tested as a reference repellent cream and showed the same effect as O. bascilicum oil at 70% concentration, and the average repellency rate was 94%. Conclusion: The results demonstrated that O. bascilicum oil had high repellency activity against female Anopheles mosquitoes, and thus can be used as mosquito natural repellent.Item Evaluation Of PT And APTT among Diabetes Mellitus Type2 Patients in Atbara City, Sudan(جامعة الشيخ عبدالله البدري, 2022-08) Mohamed Hashim Fadellala; , Eman Zeen Elabdeen Hashim Yassin; Hisham Abdelhamid; Adam A. Mohammed1, Salah M. Mansur; Abdelrahman M. Alfarajabi; , Hassan Ibrahim Hussein; , Abdelfatah O. KaramAlgani; Ghanem Mohammed Mahjaf; , Mosab Nouraldein Mohammed HamadDiabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. To evaluation of PT and PTT among diabetes mellitus type 2 patients. This is a cross-sectional study with a control group based conducted in Atbara hospital during the period from March to July 2018. The patients were interviewed according to a questionnaire prepared for this purpose. A total of 50 samples were from patients with type2 diabetes mellitus and 50 samples were from healthy persons as control. PT and APTT were measured using semi-automated coagulometry (TECO- COATRON M1, GERMANY). The data was analyzed by SPSS software using an independent t-test. The results show that the mean level of prothrombin time in type 2 diabetic patients was (16.64±3.09 Sec) and of control was (16.7±1.24 Sec), it was none significantly correlated (P value = 0.832) and the mean level activated partial thromboplastin time APTT in type 2 diabetic patients was (38.3±8.7) Sec and of control was (36.2±2.7 Sec), it was none significantly correlated (P. value =0.111). Our study concluded that patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus had no hypercoagulable state due to PT and APTT. Another study with large sample size and many variables to reach another fact.Item Immunohistochemical Expression of NKX3.1 in Prostatic Adenocarcinoma Correlates with Tumors Grade among Sudanese(جامعة الشيخ عبدالله البدري, 2023-04-27) Ibrahim Bakhit Yousif Elemam; Duaa Sharaf Eldin Safi Eldin Ahmed; Tibyan Abd Almajed Altaher; Ghanem Mohammed Mahja; , Mosab Nouraldein Mohammed HamadAbstract: Background: The second most frequent cancer in males and the fourth most common cancer overall for both sexes is prostate cancer. On chromosome 8p, there is a prostatic tumor suppressor gene called NKX3.1. Despite the fact that the majority of primary prostatic adenocarcinomas exhibit positive NKX3.1 protein staining. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of NKX3.1in prostate adenocarcinoma and correlate it with tumor grades among Sudanese patients. Materials and Methods: This study is a retrospective descriptive cross- sectional study, was conducted in Khartoum state, (Radiation& Istopes Center- Khartoum (RICK)). Tissue sections were stained by immunohistochemical staining against NKX3.1 (indirect dextral polymers (Dako- EnVision TM Flex kit)) was carried out on forty (40) archival formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue blocks from patients diagnosed as prostate carcinoma. Data were collected from hospital records and the immunohistochemical results and then analyzed using SPSS 25.0 frequency, and Chi-Square and mean were calculated. Results: The study found that the most frequent age group is between (71 – 80) years old, twenty (20) cases have prostate adenocarcinoma grade III, twelve (12) cases were grade II, and eight (8) cases were grade I. Any nuclear NKX3.1 staining was regarded as positive. Thirty-five (35%) have NKX3 positive immunostain while (65%) have a negative result. There is a statistically significant correlation between the NKX3.1 expressions and tumor grade as the P. value was (0.000), while in a statistically significant correlation between the NKX3 expressions and patients' age as the P. value was (0.957). Conclusions: NKX3 immuno expression is strongly associated with higher tumor grade and may prove the role of this protein in the progression of prostate cancer.
