Abstract
This research aims to study water harvesting in Khartoum State and the design of Algeia 2 Valley's dam at Algeia Valley area south of Omdurman, where the Geographic Information System Program was used to treat the digital elevation models by establishing the collector basin borders and the sewage network for Algeia Valley at the dam area.
The topographical characteristics of the dam area were studied, as volume and surface area charts corresponding to the height were generated using the surfer program. Also hydrological study was carried out for the dam area, where the maximum discharge was calculated using the rational formula that its valley reached (651m3⁄sec) , and the annual water revenue of the Valley at the dam area was calculated using Soil Conservation Protection (SCS), and its value reached around (20,800,000m3), and the dam was designed by calculating the dimensions of the foundation, where it was found that the length of the foundation on the stream is (16 m), the maximum thickness of the foundation (4 m), the total length of the spillway gate is (375 m), and the number of the lower gates (8 pipes)
with a diameter of (53cm).
