Abstract
The main objective of this project is to study the problems of drainage of excess
water in the Gezira project by evaluating the current drainage. As for the
practical side, the field visit of the Gezira project was carried out, and the
research was adopted in the study of drainage problems, the most important of
which is the accumulation of water in low-lying areas that lead to damage to the
environment, the loss of a large amount of Water, the capacity of drains is
narrowed due to the growth of trees, weeds, and silt. The research suggested
solutions to these problems, the most important of which is making a map of the
drains for the purpose of rehabilitating them, especially the main drain that
collects water, activating the supplementary irrigation system, cleaning the
drains continuously, designing a main drain on a natural stream to transfer water
To the White Nile, it starts from the east at the end of the banks and ends in the
White Nile, with a length of 97.4 km, a width of 5.5 and a depth of 0.9 meters
