Abstract
Abstract Background: Hemodialysis is an alternative treatment for kidney failure provided in hospital units Nurses provide care and monitoring before, during and after hemodialysis. Objective: The study was conducted to evaluate nurses' knowledge and practice regarding hemodialysis. Design: A hospital-based qualitative cross-sectional descriptive study was designed in the period from March 2018 Until July 2018 in River Nile State hospitals. Analysis: Data were analyzed using SPSS. Result: 80% of the nurses were aware of the permissible fluid volume per day, and 62.5% were not aware of the diet. 100% of the nurses were aware of the complications that occur during hemodialysis, and the psychological and social problem of the patient. They had poor knowledge and practice regarding infection control measurements, and few used them Personal protective equipment in septic practices.. Conclusion: The study concluded that the majority of nurses studied are familiar with blood tests, however They had poor practice regarding infection control measures in the hemodialysis unit.. Recommendations: The study recommends continuing training to keep nurses up to date, and all facilities available. and equipment necessary to apply infection control and standard precautions
